Prepare to indulge in crispy, crunchy, and savoury har cheong gai (虾酱鸡) goodness as HAR HAR Chicken! launches in Bishan’s Junction 8 on July 5, 2024. Thanks to the efforts of four passionate friends, fans of the beloved shrimp paste chicken can now enjoy this zi char staple transformed into a variety of main dishes.

HAR HAR Chicken! is the brainchild of Singaporean food enthusiasts and avid har cheong gai lovers: LG Han from the One Michelin-starred Labyrinth, social media personality Lennard Yeong, restaurateur Tay Jianli, and investment professional Bevin Desker. Their mission is simple: to give har cheong gai the spotlight it deserves.

HAR HAR Chicken! reinvents har cheong gai into standalone wings, burgers, rice boxes, and more, offering new and exciting ways to enjoy this local treat. Each dish comes with its side to ensure maximum satisfaction.

  • HAR-burger ($7.30): Sink your teeth into a golden har cheong cutlet sandwich with tomato and lettuce. Choose between the spicy version with Sriracha mayo or the original with creamy mayo. Make it a set with fries for $9.70.
  • HAR HAR Wings: Enjoy whole wings marinated and coated in a har cheong batter, fried to crispy perfection. They are available at $3.20 per piece or $18 for six pieces.
  • Set Boxes (from $4.90): Perfect for larger appetites. The Saver Box includes one wing, a choice of fries or chicken rice, and achar-slaw and chicken rice chilli. The HAR-ty Double Wing Box features two wings, while the HAR-ty Boneless Thigh Box swaps wings for a boneless har cheong thigh cutlet. Optional add-ons include a fried egg ($1.20), mini popcorn chicken ($2), or mini achar-slaw ($1.20).
  • HAR HAR Pops ($4.80): Easy-to-munch chicken popcorn bites, perfect for dipping in mayo or chicken rice chilli.
  • Ala Carte Sides: Achar-slaw ($3.50), Chicken Rice ($2), and Fries ($3).

I found one of the quirkiest little spots in Joo Chiat 👀

Heartware Store & Gallery is currently hosting Japanese artist Choibusu’s first solo exhibition in Singapore, featuring 500+ handmade “ugly-cute” keychains. Think sushi, snails, wisdom teeth and all sorts of wonderfully weird characters. 😂

There are also vintage Japanese toys, 3D-printed lamps, colourful merch and plenty of random treasures to discover.
