Din Tai Fung is opening a new restaurant in the heart of Orchard Road, and this latest Singapore branch celebrates both its future and its roots. Din Tai Fung ION Orchard Singapore will open on 29 August 2026, featuring a design inspired by the brand’s original Taipei location, two dishes you won’t find at other Singapore outlets, and a special Bao Zai pouch promotion.

You’ll find the 100-seat restaurant at #B4-03 in ION Orchard, covering about 3,000 square feet. Rather than following the style of newer Din Tai Fung outlets, this location pays tribute to the brand’s first store on Xinyi Road in Taipei.

If you already know Din Tai Fung for its xiao long bao and classic menu items, you’ll notice that the ION Orchard opening puts a strong focus on the restaurant’s history.

Din Tai Fung ION Orchard Singapore celebrates its origins

The Din Tai Fung story began in Taipei in 1958, when founder Yang Bing-Yi opened a small shop selling cooking oil.

When demand for cooking oil declined in the early 1970s, part of the shop shifted to making xiao long bao. What started as a side business eventually became the restaurant brand recognised today.

This unique origin story is a big part of the new Din Tai Fung ION Orchard experience.

Inside the restaurant, a heritage wall highlights key moments in the brand’s journey, beginning with the original oil shop. You’ll also see a recreation of Din Tai Fung’s first signboard, which reads “Din Tai Fung Oil Retail”.

According to the brand, this is the first time it has recreated and displayed the original signboard at a Din Tai Fung restaurant in Singapore.

This nostalgic design sets the outlet apart from other Din Tai Fung locations. It links the new Orchard Road restaurant in 2026 to the humble Taipei shop where the business started over sixty years ago.

Two dishes are only available at Din Tai Fung ION Orchard

Regular Din Tai Fung fans have another reason to check out this branch.

The ION Orchard menu features two dishes you can only get at this location. Both highlight shrimp and pork wantons, but each offers a different twist.

Noodles with Shrimp & Pork Wantons in Peanut Sesame Sauce, S$14.80

This dish pairs springy noodles with hand-wrapped shrimp and pork wantons, all topped with a peanut sesame sauce.

Inspired by everyday Taiwanese home cooking, the sesame and peanut sauce gives the noodles a rich, comforting flavor. If you usually prefer noodles over dumplings, this is likely the heartier of the two exclusive dishes at Din Tai Fung ION Orchard.

The second exclusive also features shrimp and pork wantons, but instead of peanut sesame sauce, it comes with a spicy sauce for extra warmth and depth.

At S$12.80, it’s the more affordable option and a great pick if you like dishes with a stronger kick.

Both new dishes join the restaurant’s popular favorites, like the Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao, which is always made with Din Tai Fung’s signature 18 folds.

Prices are subject to prevailing government taxes and service charges unless otherwise stated.

Spend S$80 to receive a limited-edition Bao Zai pouch

Most opening promotions offer discounts, but Din Tai Fung is taking a different approach at ION Orchard.

If you spend at least S$80 before GST and service charge, you’ll get a complimentary limited-edition Bao Zai pouch, while stocks last.

The pouch is shaped like a white xiao long bao character, with a smiling face and a red loop. On the back, there’s a clear compartment inspired by packaged goods.

There’s no set end date for the Bao Zai pouch promotion, so it’s available only while stocks last.

If you’re a family or a Din Tai Fung fan who likes collecting branded items, this playful promotion is a fun reason to visit during the opening.

The new restaurant is also launching a Singapore brand film

Din Tai Fung is using the ION Orchard opening to share something more than just a new restaurant.

This opening also marks the debut of Din Tai Fung Singapore’s first locally produced brand film since the restaurant arrived in Singapore.

The 60-second film highlights the company’s focus on precision, consistency, and attention to detail. You’ll see these values in things like the 18 folds used for their signature xiao long bao.

The film is part of the heritage theme at ION Orchard, connecting the brand’s original craftsmanship with how its restaurants work today.

Din Tai Fung opened its first Singapore restaurant in 2003. Over twenty years later, the ION Orchard branch is both a new addition and a reminder of the brand’s beginnings.
