On our Day 3 in Penang, we will be checking out of our comfortable hotel room at 12 pm. From DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Penang to our next hotel, Muntri Mews will take about 20 minutes of a car ride. Using the GrabCar, the price to Mutri Mews is RM15.

Explore Cute Teddies At TeddyVille Museum

After we had our breakfast in DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Penang, we visited TeddyVille Museum which is located within the hotel premises. TeddyVille Museum is Malaysia’s first and most extensive collection of teddy bears from all around the world. The earliest teddy bear is found to be as early as the 1900s.

Focus on fun, educational and cultural, you can find many human-sized teddy bears, and mini teddy bears figurines showcasing the culture and races of Malaysia.

We spend about 2 hours in the TeddyVille Museum and do some shopping since there is an RM10 discount coupon on each entry tickets. If you are a guest of DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Penang, you will get to enjoy special rates for the tickets.

Muntri Mews at Georgetown, Penang

With over 90% favourable rating on leading travel websites like TripAdvisor, Expedia and Agoda, Muntri Mews is a boutique hotel located in the heritage section of Georgetown, Penang. Different from DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Penang, the hotel makes me feel like I have entered into the year of the 1970s in Penang.

My first thought of our standard room? Spacious enough to fit 2 adults and 2 children. The lounge is a cosy corner where we can view television programmes on the 40 inches LED TV.

Two queen sized beds are laid side-by-side together at the sleeping corner. At the end of each side of the sleeping corner, there is an electric outlet with USB outputs for charging of electronic devices.

Muntri Mews’ standard room comes with cleaned, filtered water for consumption, one kettle, two mosquito UV lamps (one is the lounge and one in the sleeping corner) and a Bose portable Bluetooth speaker. Free WiFi is available, but sadly, the network speed is slow.

You might ask if Muntri Mews’ standard room safe for children? I would say there are some sharp corners on some of the wooden furniture and the electrical wall outlets are reachable for young children. So parents, please take note if you want to stay in Muntri Mews.

Heading to Chulia Street in Georgetown

From Muntri Mews to Chulia Street will take about 10 to 15 minutes of walk. Chulia Street is a district where you can find freshly prepared local hawker food along the street. There are also cafes, bakeries and pubs around the area.

If you are planning to visit Chulia Street, I would recommend you to visit the area from 7 pm onwards. At 6 pm, you will find the street hawkers setting up their pushcarts and preparing the ingredients.

Parents who are carrying babies like me, you can opt to take away the hawker food and head back to the hotel to enjoy.

🥐 Dropped by Moonchild Café at Jalan Besar for brunch and coffee after a late night catching up on GE2025 🗳️. Definitely needed that caffeine fix!

The café has a cosy, laid-back vibe with good coffee, waffles, and bakes — plus it’s dog-friendly, which is always a win. 🐶

🚌 It’s about a 15-minute walk from Bendemeer MRT, but if you’re coming from Tampines, just take Bus 23 — it stops right outside the café.

📍 If you’re looking for a chill spot in the Jalan Besar area with good vibes and brunch, this one’s worth checking out.
😌 TGIF! I’m taking a break from all the rally heat with some grilled goodness at Sinpopo.

🧈 The Damn Good Kaya & Salty Butter Sandwich really good, plus teh tarik, coffee and peanut mochi for that extra mood boost.

🗳️ Don’t forget to vote tomorrow ok?
