The Galaxy Note 9 is Samsung’s greatest and most powerful phone of the year. The Korea giant tech company is doubling down on everything that the Note series represents: productivity and efficiency. The Samsung Note 9 has the best specs and features you will find in any flagship Android phone.
The Samsung Note 9 looks almost similar to the Galaxy Note 8. The smaller sized bezels are designed to accommodate the 6.4-inch screen. Essential hardware features such as wireless charging, water resistance, expandable microSD storage, and the audio jack are still available in this latest phablet.
Let’s Talk About The Gaming Experience
Video gaming was one subject where Samsung drew in to promote the Note 9. Both the Snapdragon and Exynos S9 showcased thermal throttling in 3D video games. A new beefier thermal dissipation service to better cool the SoC and preserved greater efficiency are also introduced.
Samsung claims that the Note 9 has the loudest built-in speakers of any phone its made. Tuned by audio experts AKG, I bet their sound quality should remain great when played loud.
1TB Of Memory Storage
The Note 9 can be found in 6 GB or 8GB RAM variants, tied together with a doubled base storage capacity of 128GB and with an enormous 512GB in the higher tiered option. If you need up to 1TB of storage on the phone, the Samsung Note 9 will let you have it.
A Little Bigger Display
It’s a Super AMOLED panel running a 2960 x 1440 resolution, in an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. Like all AMOLED screens, the screen flaunts intense blacks and bright, vibrant colours. In the technical specifications, the Samsung Note 9 has the largest screen on any Note phone ever – 6.4-inches.
All Day Battery Life
Powering the phone is a massive 4,000 mAh battery which Samsung promises ‘all day’ battery life. The Samsung Note 9 battery has also gone through its own multipoint safety check.
Samsung is also debuting a brand-new wireless battery charger called Duo that can fast charging two smartphones at the same time, or one smart device and a smartwatch.
S For Smarter S Pen
The S Pen has generally stayed the same for years. This time, Samsung Note 9’s stylus is really getting a serious upgrade. For the very first time, the stylus on the Note 9 utilises Bluetooth. This means it can be utilised as a sort of remote for the phone.
You can manage music using the stylus, unlock the phone or even control the camera shutter. The S Pen charges by drawing power from the Note 9 while docked. Docking the S Pen for a minute will give it enough power for about 200 clicks or up to 30 minutes of usage. The S Pen will continue to work for writing and drawing even when the battery runs out.
Same Camera, More Intelligent
The core of the camera tech in the Note 9 remains the same as the Galaxy S9 Plus – two 12-megapixel lenses on the rear, and an 8-megapixel lens on the front. The Galaxy Note 9 is using Samsung’s variable aperture technology. In layman, the camera can change in between f/1.5 and f/2.4 apertures based upon the lighting condition.
Amusingly, there’s something called ‘flaw detection’ which lets you understand if an image has come out right or not. If the photo turns out blurry or the subject has their eyes closed, you will get a notification to inform you to retake the picture.
Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 might not be a significant upgrade over the Galaxy Note 8. However, it is certainly a deserving successor in terms of design. The Samsung Note 9 will be offered in two configurations: there is a 128GB/ 6GB RAM model for RRP S$ 1,398 and a top-tier 512GB/ 8GB RAM version for RRP S$ 1,728.
