On a scorching Easter Sunday, my family and I indulged in some heavenly ice cream from Birds of Paradise in Katong. This wasn’t your average ice cream parlour; Birds of Paradise is renowned for its unusual and exotic flavours that transport you to a tropical paradise. With my wife and two sons by my side, we embarked on a refreshing and delicious journey to beat the heat and satisfy our cravings.
The family indulged in a variety of unique and delicious ice cream flavours. Kayden, always up for trying new things, chose Lychee Raspberry and Hazelnut, and Nathan went for a refreshing Mango Sorbet and a decadent Dark Chocolate. Dad couldn’t resist the intriguing Sea Salt Hojicha and Roasted Sesame, while Mom opted for the sophisticated Roasted Sesame Midnight Gianguja. With each double-scoop cup costing $9, they were excited to dig into their frozen delights!
We opted for cups instead of cones since we had already eaten lunch. Little did we know, we were in for a treat as we tasted various flavours that left us wanting more. It was a whirlwind tour of deliciousness that satisfied our sweet tooth.
The boys’ faces lit up with each new flavour as we indulged in our ice cream. Kayden’s Lychee Raspberry scoop provided a refreshing and fruity relief from the scorching heat, while his Hazelnut flavour was a creamy and nutty dream. Nathan’s Mango Sorbet was a burst of tropical flavour that transported us to a sun-drenched island, and his Dark Chocolate scoop was a rich and velvety treat.
The combination of Sea Salt Hojicha and Roasted Sesame in my ice cream was heavenly. The delicate saltiness of the hojicha complemented the rich, earthy taste of the roasted sesame, resulting in a delightful interplay of sweet and savoury flavours. My wife’s Midnight Gianguja featured roasted sesame and chocolate, an indulgent and luxurious treat that left us both swooning with delight.
After indulging in various unique ice cream flavours, we couldn’t help but crave even more. The Earl Grey & Lemongrass, White Chrysanthemum (their most popular flavour), Pandan, and Spiced Pear all sounded tempting, offering a tantalizing array of frozen treats to explore. As we savoured the last bits of our current flavours, we eagerly anticipated the next adventure in our ice cream journey.
One flavour stood out during our ice cream tasting adventure: Sea Salt Hojicha. Its complex and refined taste won over our senses and was unanimously declared the show’s star.
After indulging in the delectable Birds of Paradise ice cream, our hearts were filled with joy, and our stomachs were content. As we made our way home, we couldn’t help but plan our next visit to try out more of their unique and delicious flavours. Whether it’s a scorching Easter Sunday or simply a craving for their irresistible ice cream, we knew we would be back soon.
