Three months ago, I have shared about how I choose the right enrichment class for my child and why abacus will lay a strong foundation for developing and strengthening his multi-sensory skills. Despite there are many abacus enrichment schools in Singapore, the reasons on why I choose Fun With Abacus is because of the good 1:3 teacher to student ratio, convenient locations and over 10 years of coaching experiences. Fun With Abacus also has a free assessment lesson to determine if your child is ready to start learning abacus.

You can read my previous post about “How To Choose The Right Enrichment Class For Child”My Review of Snapask After 1 Week here.

Over these past three months, I am very comfortable with the school as Teacher Gwen takes great responsibility when educating Kayden. Usually, after class, she would feedback about my child’s progress, his strengths and weaknesses. She would also set realistic and achievable goals so that Kayden will feel motivated to go for his weekly abacus lesson.

Homework is tagged in the workbook after each weekly lesson. On every alternate weekday, my wife and I would spend 30 minutes with Kayden to revise his homework with him. The amount of homework given was reasonable and the difficulty level of these questions varies. By revising with Kayden, we can monitor his progress closely. Currently, Kayden is practising his Anzan, which is the ability to perform mental arithmetic without the use of the abacus. The objective of Anzan is to improve his mental formation skills and sharpen his memory. Through Anzan practising, Kayden’s photographic memory also improves.

Fun With Abacus

As of today, Kayden is nearly 5 years old and he does not require his fingers to assist him in doing simple addition and subtraction. Abacus learning is a good supplement for his arithmetic problem-solving.
