Gourmet snack company, The Golden Duck, has been around since 2015, specialising in turning well-loved dishes and flavours into delicious and unforgettable snacks. In the recent ‘The Great Snack Showdown’ campaign, snackers from all over the world voted and crunched through different flavour combinations and ingredients to decide on a winning recipe – and the world has spoken! The Golden Duck has just released its new gourmet snack flavour, Tom Yum.

The Golden Duck’s ‘Bangkok Tom Yum Goong Gourmet Mix’ features all of the spicy, sweet, salty, and sour flavours of the much-loved Thai dish tom yum and transforms it into an irresistible blend perfect for snacking. The gourmet snack features three key ingredients: Shrimp Chins, Lotus Root Crisps, and Oyster Mushrooms.

To make their new flavour as authentic as possible, TGD’s snack chef, Chef Maui, worked with Blue Elephant Royal Thai Cuisine’s Chef Nooror to ensure that we enjoy nothing but the best that Thailand has to offer in a tasty and convenient snack that we can munch on whenever the cravings arise.

Jonathan Shen, CEO and Co-Founder of The Golden Duck, shares that TGD’s mission has always been to turn well-loved dishes into authentic Asian gourmet snacks – and that is exactly what they have done with their Bangkok Tom Yum Goong Gourmet Mix.

However, he also shares that turning tom yum’s distinct flavour into a snack hasn’t exactly been easy. “We knew we had to work with the best of the best to craft the ultimate Thai snack that will conquer the hearts of our snackers around the world,” he expresses. “We saw the opportunity to synergise our strengths with Blue Elephant, a long-standing icon in the Bangkok culinary scene renowned for their award-winning restaurants and expertise of Chef Nooror, and are very proud to have them on board with us to bring Thai gastronomy to new levels.”

TGD worked on the recipe for this snack for over a year before Chef Nooror perfected it, so you can be sure that it won’t disappoint. After all, Chef Nooror is one of Thailand’s top chefs and has been an ambassador for Thai gastronomy and ingredients for more than four decades now. “We look forward to combining our knowledge and experience to also present Blue Elephant under a new rejuvenated light,” she beams.

No matter how you prefer your tom yum, the Tom Yum Goong Gourmet Mix will take you straight to the streets of Bangkok. You will taste the authentic flavours of the dish after just one bite, and the flavours will only get stronger the more you munch on them. You are sure to get addicted to this snack! TGD is also launching its very first spice booster pack so you can choose your preferred level of spiciness and enjoy the snack just the way you like it.

More than 12,000 snackers took part in The Great Snack Showdown, where Tom Yum garnered 38% of the total votes followed by Laksa with 33% of the votes and Beef Rendang with 28% of the votes. This was the first time that The Golden Duck involved their snackers in creating a new product.

“Even though the voting period has ended, we will keep creatively creating dish-accurate snacks and the votes have given us much inspiration,” promises Christopher Hwang, Chief Strategy Officer and Co-Founder of The Golden Duck. “So keep your eyes peeled for more snackers-led collaborations and innovation coming very soon!”

The promo will run until November 30, 2020. For more information, visit TGDSG on Facebook.

Heartware Store & Gallery is currently hosting Japanese artist Choibusu’s first solo exhibition in Singapore, featuring 500+ handmade “ugly-cute” keychains. Think sushi, snails, wisdom teeth and all sorts of wonderfully weird characters. 😂

There are also vintage Japanese toys, 3D-printed lamps, colourful merch and plenty of random treasures to discover.
