Marina Bay Sands is preparing to welcome the Year of the Dragon with a dazzling display of festivities during The Dragon Awakens: 2024 Light Up event on February 6, 2024, starting at 7 pm. This spectacular evening promises a visual feast featuring dragon and lion dance performances, koi dancers, and a contemporary Chinese art display by the Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre.

The highlight of the night will be a breathtaking drone show along the Marina Bay waterfront. The show will feature an impressive fleet of 1,500 synchronized drones, making it the largest drone show in Singapore to date.

The main attraction of the celebration will take place at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands’ Grand Colonnade. The event will feature the unveiling of two magnificent 40-meter-long dragons in front of a grand 15-meter-tall Dragon’s Gate. These installations are adorned with captivating shades of aquamarine, teal, and purple and tell an inspiring tale of perseverance leading to prosperity, reflecting the Chinese mythology of ‘The Legend of the Dragon Gate.’ The decorations, which include 88 koi fish decorations, an iridescent dragon’s pearl, and 28 blooming lotus lanterns, represent a contemporary adaptation of the ancient myth.

After the grand light-up event, visitors can enjoy the Lunar New Year drone light show at the Event Plaza on the Marina Bay waterfront. This event marks a significant collaboration between the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), Marina Bay Sands, and UOB to introduce world-class programming in the precinct. The drone display is themed around prosperity and family reunion and tells the mythical tale of a koi’s transformation into the Dragon King, soaring triumphantly against Singapore’s iconic city skyline. The show will run at 8 pm on February 6, 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18, followed by the breathtaking Spectra – A Light & Water Show at 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm on selected dates.

As part of the Lunar New Year celebrations, Grand Colonnade South has a magnificent 22-meter-long dragon on display. Visitors can explore their 2024 Chinese zodiac Feng Shui predictions on intricately designed panels that resemble the dragon’s gate. More than 100 kumquat trees and floral arrangements will be set up to create a festive atmosphere throughout the property. From February 9th to 24th, the iconic three towers of Marina Bay Sands and the ArtScience Museum’s facade will be transformed into canvases for Lunar New Year-themed projections and animations.

Panoramic Views of Singapore’s Largest Drone Show

On February 10, the iconic SkyPark Observation Deck will host Dragon in the Sky, offering a remarkable vantage point for The Legend of the Dragon Gate – Drone Show by the Bay from a height of 56 storeys. Guests can secure front-row seats for the awe-inspiring drone display on February 10, 11, 16, and 17 at 8 p.m. Tickets are priced at S$58 for general admission and S$48 for Sands LifeStyle members, UOB, and selected Citibank cardholders. Terms and conditions apply.

Digital Light Canvas Illuminated with Lunar New Year Magic

From February 6th to 24th, the Digital Light Canvas by teamLab, located in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, will feature a stunning digital fireworks display. If you have a Digital Light Canvas ticket, you can participate in the interactive experience by scanning designated QR codes, selecting firework displays, and watching them come to life as large, three-dimensional fireworks on the 14-meter-tall light sculpture. This constantly changing and engaging art installation is an enjoyable and imaginative activity suitable for visitors of all ages.

💎 Weekend adventure at Jewel Changi! We had lunch at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh. Of course, ended it all with some waterfall fun, the classic Jewel style.
🥐 Dropped by Moonchild Café at Jalan Besar for brunch and coffee after a late night catching up on GE2025 🗳️. Definitely needed that caffeine fix!

The café has a cosy, laid-back vibe with good coffee, waffles, and bakes — plus it’s dog-friendly, which is always a win. 🐶

🚌 It’s about a 15-minute walk from Bendemeer MRT, but if you’re coming from Tampines, just take Bus 23 — it stops right outside the café.

📍 If you’re looking for a chill spot in the Jalan Besar area with good vibes and brunch, this one’s worth checking out.
😌 TGIF! I’m taking a break from all the rally heat with some grilled goodness at Sinpopo.

🧈 The Damn Good Kaya & Salty Butter Sandwich really good, plus teh tarik, coffee and peanut mochi for that extra mood boost.
