Moccona has launched Liquid Espresso, a new instant coffee format in Singapore. These single-serve sachets promise barista-style espresso without the machine. Are they the ultimate solution for busy coffee lovers? We look at the flavours, convenience, and whether they live up to the hype for Singaporeans.

Is your daily coffee routine a delicate balance between craving quality and needing sheer speed? You want a proper, full-bodied espresso, but the thought of cleaning a machine or queuing at a cafe feels like a monumental task. If this sounds familiar, a new product on Singapore’s shelves might have the answer.

Moccona, a brand you probably know from its distinctive glass jars of freeze-dried coffee, has just launched something completely different. It’s called Moccona Liquid Espresso, and it comes in single-serve sachets that you pour, stir, and enjoy. I managed to get my hands on some to see if this new format is a genuine convenience game-changer or just another gimmick.

What Exactly is Moccona Liquid?

Let’s be clear, this isn’t ground coffee, and it’s not a powder. It’s a liquid coffee concentrate, pre-portioned into neat little sachets. The idea is brilliantly simple. You tear one open, squeeze the liquid into your cup, add 150ml of hot or cold water or milk, stir it, and your drink is ready.

No kettle waiting time for brewing, no messy filters, and definitely no noisy grinding at 7 am. This is coffee designed for life on the move, whether that move is from your kitchen to your home office desk or from your bag to a park bench during a lunch break.

The brand is launching with two core flavours to cater to different tastes. There is a Medium Roast for those who prefer a balanced, classic espresso flavour. Then there is a Caramel variant for when you are in the mood for something a little sweeter and more indulgent without needing to add syrup yourself.

Moccona Liquid Espresso Medium Roast, 8 sachets. 100% Arabica beans. Enjoy hot or iced. Total 160 mL per box.

The Real Test: Taste and Convenience

So, the big question is, how does it taste? I was sceptical, I will admit. A liquid concentrate that lives in a sachet does not exactly scream “premium barista quality.” But I was pleasantly surprised.

The Medium Roast delivers a smooth and surprisingly full-bodied cup. It is not going to replace a perfectly pulled shot from a high-end espresso machine for a coffee connoisseur, but it is miles ahead of most traditional instant coffee granules. The flavour is rounded and lacks the harsh, bitter aftertaste that plagues many instant options. It makes a very respectable black coffee.

The Caramel variant is nicely done. The sweetness is subtle and toasty, not the overwhelming, artificial sugar bomb you might fear. Mixed with cold milk, it makes a very decent iced caramel latte in about 30 seconds flat, a treat in Singapore’s heat.

The convenience factor is where this product truly shines. The sachets are tiny and lightweight, making them perfect for tossing in your work bag, gym kit, or suitcase. They are a lifesaver for a quick pick-me-up between meetings or when you are travelling and cannot guarantee a good coffee source.

Where to Buy and What it Costs

For now, and until January 2026, Moccona Liquid Espresso is exclusive to FairPrice stores in Singapore. Each box contains eight sachets and has a recommended retail price of S$8.95. That works out to about S$1.12 per cup.

This price point is interesting. It is significantly more expensive than a jar of traditional instant coffee per cup, but much cheaper than a takeaway latte from a cafe. You are paying a premium for the single-serve convenience and the liquid format.

The Verdict: Who is This For?

Moccona Liquid Espresso is not trying to be everything to everyone. It will not satisfy the purist who roasts their own beans. But for many people, it is a fantastic option.

It is perfect for the busy parent who needs a quality coffee in one hand while managing the school run with the other. It is ideal for the office worker who wants a fast, tasty alternative to the sad office drip coffee. It is a traveller’s best friend and an excellent solution for anyone with limited kitchen space.

In a city like Singapore, where time is precious and coffee culture is evolving, Moccona Liquid hits a sweet spot. It offers a legitimately good, versatile coffee experience with unmatched ease. It is a thoughtful innovation that understands the realities of a modern, fast-paced lifestyle.

Will you be giving these sachets a try on your next FairPrice run?
