AirPods mark Apple’s very first attempt at creating completely wireless earbuds without a wire connecting both earbuds. Each earbud fits into each ear, and they are connected to the source of the sound wirelessly. Of course, Apple wasn’t the first to come up with wireless earbuds, but they are the ones that made me stay loyal to them.
I have tested the RHA TrueConnect, JBL Free X and Apple AirPods. The Apple AirPods connect to my iPhone seamlessly. Flip on the cover and plug the earbuds into my ears, it just works. The RHA TrueConnect and JBL Free X offer good audio experience, but connectivity to the Apple ecosystem is a hassle.
Recently, I have upgraded my Apple AirPods to Apple AirPods Pro. Some people might not agree with me on this, but after three months, my Apple AirPods Pro is my favourite wireless earbuds. Apple has always been known for designing attractive products, and while some people might not be huge fans of the look of the Apple AirPods series, this never really bothered me. Besides, I was more interested in AirPods Pro’s convenience and quality. This is where Apple won me over.
Force sensors give AirPods Pro extra functionality
For many, the awkward appearance of the Apple AirPods is essential to how it works. A microphone can be found at the end of each earbud, which helps provide clearer sound when used for Siri and phone calls. And everyone I have spoken to while using my AirPods can attest that I sound great on their side of the call. The stems of the earbuds make it much easier to hold them, and each earbud sits properly into the charging case.
The Apple AirPods Pro has a much shorter stem. Missing on the original Apple AirPods, the AirPods Pro has force sensors to play and pause my music on its stems. The force sensors also allow the switching between the Pro’s new function, Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode.
AirPods Pro offers excellent sound quality, but AirPods does better at phone call experience
The Apple AirPods Pro offers better sound quality than the original AirPods. The bass is powerful and deep without being overbearing. As for clarity of my music, the Active Noise Cancellation plays a significant part in removing background noise.
When it comes to phone calls, the AirPods does it better. This could due to the longer stems where the microphones are present.
The sound quality isn’t just great for those I find myself in a call-in, either. It is great on my end, as well. I was never a fan of the regular Apple earphones, but the AirPods truly blow me away every time I use them, particularly in terms of their bass response.
AirPods Pro gives a better seal
The fit of the AirPods and AirPods Pro in my ears are worth mentioning. For daily commuting and working out, both wireless earbuds sit well and don’t shake loose. The AirPods Pro offers three different sizes of silicone tips for a better seal.
Pro or not, Apple wireless earbuds are worth investing
While other wireless earbuds require fumbling with Bluetooth settings and repairing them now and then, I can just put my Apple wireless earbuds in my ears, and they will turn on right away and connect to my iPhone and iPad without any hassle or fuss. It just works!
From the convenience to the quality, I am always amazed by how Apple managed to pack everything together into a single audio product. While the design might not appeal to everyone, the Apple AirPods Pro is a product worth investing. Just make sure you take good care of them and don’t lose them!
