Ah, indoor bouncing castle for the children to play and delicious casual French fare prepared with a contemporary twist. That’s not all. Children can have fun making their own cupcakes and furry pets are welcome to sit in. So, where is this place? Please allow me to introduce to you, Sunrise Bistro & Bar, the restaurant located by the East Coast Beach. In short, this restaurant is also called Sunrise. With creative Asian-inspired gourmet delights, Sunrise is owned by Executive Chef Vincent Teng. The unique by the beach dining concept, indoor play area for children to interact and savory food for the family, this dining spot is surely a happy place for everybody.
Brought my family to Sunrise Bistro & Bar on Saturday, the first sight that I fell in love with was the huge indoor aquarium tank filled with exotic sea creatures. Cosy for the outdoor and spacious on the indoor, Sunrise sets the ambience for comfortable dining pleasure. Here we go, Kayden got excited with the indoor bouncy castle.
Fun And Dine For Kids
Every kids will love to jump on the air-filled bouncy castle and throw those coloured plastic balls around. The castle is opened every day until 5pm during the school holidays. Otherwise, this indoor activity is only available during the weekends and public holiday.
With a minimum of $15++, a child can get to choose either the Mini Beef Burger, Fish & Chips or Beef Bolognaise Pasta as their main. The Kids Meal also comes with the Soup Of The Day, Honey Baked Ham Cesar Salad, an ice-cream dessert and a glass of chilled juice. With such a yummy spread, it is value for money.
On top of the delicious food and fun, children can get creative on designing their own cupcakes with the supplied food decorations. Once the cupcake is done dressing up, time to eat it!
Indulgence For The Adults
The food selections are not a lot in the menu, but decent enough to find one that will interest you. For the Whole Day Brunch & Breakfast Menu, Sunrise offers breakfast delights such as the Egg Benedict ($12) and Sunrise Breakfast ($16). The restaurant also offers pasta favorites like Linguine ($18), Prawn Aglio Olio ($18) and Bolognese ($16). Oven baked Spring Chicken ($22), Ribeye Steak ($26) and Fish & Chips are included in their Mains menu. Sunrise’s iconic dessert would be the Salted Egg Yolk Custard Molten Chocolate Cake ($10).
Sunrise also serve premium wines and beers such as Chivas, Johnnie Walker, Martell and Glenlivet. If you crave for cocktails, do try their signature Black Swan ($20), Martin the Martian ($18) and Infusions Collins ($18).
For our lunch, we had the Egg Benedict and half Spring Chicken. Unlike most Egg Benedicts served in cafés where the poached eggs are topped onto the toasted buttery brioches, Sunrise’s Egg Benedict is prepared uniquely. The poached eggs are wrapped inside the shaved honey baked ham and buttery croissant. The eggs are spread with hollandaise sauce. The whole food package was then laid on top of sautéed mixed greens and streaky bacons.
The oven baked half Spring Chicken was tender and juicy. Served together on my lunch plate was the potato mash, sautéed greens and mushroom sauce. The potato mash tasted creamy and the mushroom sauce gives a sweet taste to this main dish.
As for our dessert, we ordered the Sunrise’s famous Salted Egg Yolk Custard Molten Chocolate Cake. Baked in the oven for 20 minutes before serve, this small and warm cake is a must-to-try dessert. Love the sight of the “oozing” molten salted egg yolk.
The interior decor of Sunrise Bistro & Bar is simple and I enjoy the spaciousness. The food served here is not about a great variety of spread, but the food that people will love to have. I have yet to try all the dishes, but those that I had were good enough. The Salted Egg Yolk Custard Molten Chocolate Cake is something to die for in this restaurant. Try it and let me know what you think.
