Do you have to travel by air on a long flight with a baby with you? Are you feeling stressed out by the thought of the flight with your little one? Well, you should not. A little planning and your flight will go much peaceful.
In this blog, I will tell you how I survived a five-hour long flight with a 16-month-old baby when we travelled from Singapore to Australia, Perth. My wife was hesitating a little in taking the flight as she was not sure how to tackle our hyperactive son.
At last, the day came when we had to fly. With a little nervousness, we got set in our seats. However, everything went smooth and our son remains peaceful during the whole flight.
Do you want to know what planning I did that keep my little one calm during the whole time?
Well, let me give you a few tips to you so next time you can also have a good time during flight with your baby.
Choose The Time Of Flight Wisely
While it is good to choose the flight time according to your own convenience, once you become a parent, you can relax when your child is in peace.
Therefore, it is important to choose the flight time carefully. Try to select a flight in which your baby can sleep. It would not only be convenient for your baby but for you as well.
Plan Your Seats Ahead Of Time
As you book your flight, reserve your seats as well. If you have an infant with you, try to reserve a front seat. In this case, you can ask for a bassinet from the crew and lie your baby in it while she/he enjoys a sound sleep.
Children also like to peak from the window, therefore, you can reserve a window seat as well, especially if you are travelling with a toddler or a little older kid.
Book A Seat For Your Child
If you want your flight to go smoothly, book a seat for your child as well, even if your kid is a toddler. It would be easier for your kid to be seated on a seat comfortably as compared to sitting on your lap.
Don’t Take Too Much Luggage
Although travelling with a baby needs you to pack a lot of luggage, but ideally, you shouldn’t be carrying too much luggage with you on board. Try not to carry more than a baby bag and your bag.
Look For Child-Friendly Airlines
You can either have a good experience or a bad experience with any airline depending on how busy the cabin crews are.
Usually, airlines with overall good reputations are child-friendly as well. Try to book your flight with an airline with a good reputation.
If you follow these tips, I am sure, you will enjoy your flight with your baby. And yes, don’t forget to pack some extra snacks for the baby during the flight.
Enjoy your journey!
