If mummy needs some me-time, she might go out for a drink with her girlfriends on Ladies’ Night. But if daddy needs to go out with other daddies, where do they go? Whether you’re a working father or a stay-at-home dad, you deserve some time out where you can unwind and hang out with men in your league.
Singapore boasts restaurants that will satisfy different palates. For a bro-mantic venue, you’d need a place with a relaxing ambience and good booze, to lubricate those serious fatherhood conversations. We’ve sussed out these six places for a mellow time for dads.
Artichoke
Chef Bjorn Shen’s flagship restaurant is founded on dudestronomy, defined as the art of elevating low-brow comfort food using creativity, skill, and good ingredients. As a result, his menu is bursting with big, bold flavours and looks beautiful with contrasting textures.
Artichoke is a Middle Eastern restaurant, categorically, but Chef Bjorn takes pride in serving out-of-the-box dishes that don’t conform to a standard. And it actually works – the food is fun and creative, drawing inspiration from Middle Eastern ingredients and flavours.
Cuttlefish shawarma, falafel-crumbed fried chicken, malabi milk pudding with mango ice, and wagyu ham pizza are just some dishes to try. They have a curated wine list, ice-cold beers, ciders and Sunday Punch cocktails to slake your thirst.
If you’re in for some slow-roasted lamb, try their big serving of Lambgasm. It’s perfect for sharing and ideal for four hungry guys. A 48-hour preorder is required. This place is usually crowded and has a casual setting perfect for a fun night with your group. Most nights, you’ll hear some 60s soul and 90s hiphop music playing in the background.

CUT by Wolfgang Puck
If you’re around Marina Bay area, gather your friends at Cut and order the best Western steak in town. Unlike the usual formal dining ambience, This restaurant by Wolfgang Puck offers a great bar scene that’s ideal for unwinding. The steak here is the real deal with selections coming all the way from Australia, Wagyu selections from USA and Japan, and true Japanese A5 Wagyu from Sendai Prefecture. They are grilled over charcoal apple wood to bring out its natural flavours and juice.
Partner your steak with some hand-crafted cocktails which are mixed with high quality spirits and ingredients or take a pick from their extensive wine list. Al these you can enjoy while savouring the view of Marina Bay Sands from a long marble bar or a cosy, elegant lounge.
The menu is quite expensive but worth every dime when you get down to taste and quality.

Salted and Hung
Salted and Hung is not hard to miss along Purvis Street because people have long embraced this restaurant as a go-to place for cured and grilled meats. They do the process in-house, using classic curing techniques with modern instruments to make sure flavours remain intact.
Beef lovers can look straight to the ala carte menu and order a dry-aged king island beef for SGD20. You can also try their small plates and have a kangaroo beetroot and celeriac. Aside from ala carte, they serve lunch sets, weekend brunch, and special dinners for Christmas and New Year. It’s not a bad choice if you’re planning a holiday reunion with your best buddies! Their serving is good for sharing, but their food is so good you can eat it all by yourself.
Like the others in this list, Salted and Hung has a good list of booze and is known for their inviting ambience – a casual setting in raw and contemporary style, ideal for laid-back yet intimate meet-ups.

1864 The Bar
This stylish bar and tea lounge commemorate the evolution of Tanjong Pagar Dock company. The bar and lounge are open from morning ‘til night, but if you’re after their timeless French champagne, be sure to meet your friends here as soon as sundown and take your spot in their elegant cocktail lounge. Enjoy a champagne ritual complete with the manly demonstration of sabrage, which is the opening of a champagne bottle with a sabre. For me, this is a perfect way of celebrating your milestones with fellow dads.
Aside from champagne, their mixologists will treat you to a variety of barrel-aged cocktails and Nespresso-infused signatures. They also serve mead, international bottled beers, boutique whiskey, gin, vodka, cognac, and more. Their tapas are perfect for pairing!

Choose an appetiser – try their fresh slices of amberjack with truffle oil on top of a salad before proceeding to the grilled items. Zafferano Italian Restaurant and Lounge
Dads have cravings, too. If yours happens to be Italian, check out Zafferano. Located at Collyer Quay at Ocean Financial Centre, this restaurant offers an authentic Italian feast with view of CBD skyline. You and your friends can indulge in Italian specials like Burratina and their signature pizza topped with fresh burrata, olives, and basil. Make your stay even more special by ordering a bottle of house wine or a bucket of Peroni beer.
