Apple is recognised for its support and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, and the company launches new Pride Edition watch bands each year to commemorate equality and diversity. These watch bands not only display the lively colours of the LGBTQ+ community but also raise awareness for essential advocacy organisations that work diligently to encourage acceptance and progress. Let’s delve into the design, inspiration, and symbolism of Apple’s Pride Edition watch bands and the organisations they endorse.

The Journey of Apple Pride Watch Bands

The Beginning

In 2016, Apple introduced Pride Edition watch bands as a way for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies to display their pride and support for equality. Over time, Apple has continued to release new variations of the Pride Edition bands, each featuring a distinct blend of colours and patterns inspired by the LGBTQ+ community.

Evolution and Growth

Apple’s Pride Edition watch bands have continued to evolve each year, with additional colours and designs to represent the diverse LGBTQ+ community. The new colours signify the inclusion of various groups within the community, including Black and Latinx individuals and those affected by HIV/AIDS, both living and deceased.

A Confetti Theme

According to a Twitter leak by Aaron, the upcoming Pride Apple Watch for 2023 will have a colourful confetti design inspired by the LGBTQIA+ flag. This design is meant to represent the happiness and festivities associated with Pride Month. The watch band will also follow the same theme, and users can customise a yellow hand on the watch face.

The Design and Inspiration Behind Apple Pride Watch Bands

Representing the LGBTQ+ Community

The strength and beauty of the LGBTQ+ community inspire the design of the Pride Edition watch bands. The bands showcase the original pride flag rainbow and additional colours representing various community groups. Black and brown symbolise Black and Latinx communities, while light blue, pink, and white represent transgender and nonbinary individuals.

Geometric Shapes and Individuality

The 2023 Pride Edition watch band boasts a delightful rainbow of geometric shapes on a white backdrop. The band is formed using compression moulding, resulting in minor variations in the placement of the shapes. This design feature guarantees that each band is distinct, symbolising the unique qualities of each member of the LGBTQ+ community.

A Dynamic Display of Support

The new Pride Celebration watch face and iOS wallpaper honour the combined strength and mutual support of the LGBTQ+ community. Colourful shapes appear to circulate into the watch display from the band, responding when a user raises and moves their wrist or taps the display. The corresponding wallpaper is another vibrant interpretation of this year’s Pride design, dynamically moving when the user unlocks their iPhone.

The Impact of Apple’s Pride Edition Watch Bands

Raising Awareness

The Pride Edition watch bands are important in raising awareness for LGBTQ+ rights and the ongoing fight for acceptance and equality. They represent support and encourage people to promote inclusivity and stand up for the LGBTQ+ community.

Supporting Advocacy Efforts

When you purchase a Pride Edition watch band, you’re directly contributing to the financial support of LGBTQ+ advocacy organisations. These organisations work hard to promote diversity and positive change, and Apple’s support helps them further their missions.

Availability and Pricing

The 2023 Apple Watch Pride Edition Sport Band is available at the Apple Online Store for $69.65 each. Available in 41mm and 45mm.

In Conclusion

Apple’s Pride Edition watch bands represent the company’s dedication to promoting LGBTQ+ rights and equality. These bands feature bright designs and support advocacy organisations to help raise awareness and acceptance for the diverse LGBTQ+ community. We’re eagerly anticipating the announcement of the 2023 Pride Apple Watch, and in the meantime, let’s continue to celebrate and support the ongoing movement to protect and advance equality for LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.
