Peking Duck is a popular duck dish from Beijing which the tender meat with crispy roasted skin are wrapped in a crepe with scallion, cucumber and sweet sauce. After enjoying my Chinese cuisine lunch, Peach Blossoms (鸿桃轩) at Marina Mandarin is one of my favourite Chinese restaurant this year.

Peach Blossoms is located on Level 5 in Marina Mandarin. Serving delectable classic Cantonese cuisine and dim sum, the Chinese restaurant has been serving their customers for nearly 30 years. Right beside Peach Blossoms is the Vanda Ballroom where my wedding is held 7 years ago. Visiting Marina Mandarin definitely revive lots of my happy memories.

What’s On My Set Menu

Dim sum is always the best starter to put a smile on everyone’s face. Calling this beauty the Imperial Four Dim Sum Combinations (精美点心四拼), the plating is so beautiful. In the basket, there is a Steamed Prawn Dumpling with Bamboo Shoots (笋尖鲜虾饺) and Steamed Pork Dumpling with Black Garlic (黑蒜蒸烧卖).

On the plate, there is a Deep-fried Yam Dumpling filled with BBQ Honey Pork (芋角叉烧酥) and Crispy Cod Fish Roll with Wild Mushrooms (三椒野菌鳕鱼卷).

This is the main highlight on my menu, the Barbecue Peking Duck (北京片皮鸭). Savoury and tender duck meat wrapped inside the crepe. The crispy roasted duck skin was nicely done.

Double-boiled soup is a Chinese cooking technique used mainly Cantonese cuisine. Boiled in a ceramic jar for several hours with Chinese herbs, double-boiled soup is more delicious and rich in flavour. Therefore, the Double-boiled Kampung Chicken Soup with Chinese Herbs (党参黄氏炖山芭鸡汤) is a must to try! How I wish there will be a second serving of this soup.

Don’t worry about getting your fingers oily when you are having the Stir-fried Boston Lobster with Golden Stripe and Oatmeal (金丝麦香波士顿龙虾). Why? There are two reasons. The first is the lobster’s meat is so fresh that you can remove the flesh out of the shells easily. Second, the waiter can help you to cut the shells and retrieve the succulent meat for you.

This is my first time enjoying codfish prepared in this way. Calling this dish Steamed Sliver Cod with Spicy Bean Sauce (酱蒸银鳕鱼), there is a good balance of taste between seafood freshness and spiciness.

Chao Shan (潮汕) is the eastern part of Guangdong (广东) Province, which includes major cities like Chaozhou (潮洲) and Shantou (汕头). Henceforth, the name Chao Shan is formed. Chao Shan cuisine characteristics are mainly light on our palates and original in taste. If you love food which is light in taste, then you will love Peach Blossoms’ Steamed Bean Curd Stuffed with Minced Pork in “Chao Shan” Style (潮汕家乡煎酿豆腐煲).

The Pan-fried Rice Vermicelli and Glass Noodles with Shredded Duck Meat (香煎鸭丝干炒鸳鸯米粉).

To end my 8-course meal in Peach Blossoms, I had the Duo Dessert Combinations (香芒椰子冻配流沙煎堆). The right way to enjoy this dessert is to start with the Chilled Coconut Jelly with Mango Puree served with Coconut Ice Cream first. Next, enjoy the Deep-fried Glutinous Rice Ball filled with Custard and Salted Egg Yolk.

Peach Blossoms at Marina Mandarin will be offering their delicious Peking Duck from 13 February to 31 March 2017 at a very attractive price of $48++ per duck!

Head down to the restaurant with family and friends and you will definitely love the oriental ambience, delicious food and friendly staffs!
