Hainanese Delights with a Twist: What Everyone Should Try At Chapter Two.

If you plan to dine at The Hainan Story Chapter Two, locals and food enthusiasts suggest trying some of their highly recommended dishes. These dishes incorporate Hainanese flavours with local favourites, resulting in a one-of-a-kind and unforgettable dining experience. Here are some of the must-try dishes to explore:

Chapter 2 1980’s Hainanese Pork Cutlet Coated with Potato Chips Crumb

Returning to the 1980s with Chapter 2’s mouthwatering Hainanese Pork Cutlet ($18.80) coated with Potato Chips Crumb. This dish is a nostalgic nod to the flavours of the past combined with a modern twist. Marinated in a blend of Cajun spices that adds a kick of taste, the pork cutlet is generously coated with a mixture of breadcrumbs and crushed potato chips, which gives it a satisfying crunch.

As it sizzles and fries to golden perfection, this Hainanese Pork Cutlet is doused with special Hainanese BBQ sauce, which adds a tangy and slightly sweet note to complement the savoury flavours. On the side, you’ll find a fresh and creamy coleslaw and a generous portion of crispy French fries. So, if you’re looking for a dish that combines nostalgia with a modern twist, Chapter 2 1980s Hainanese Pork Cutlet coated with Potato Chips Crumb is a perfect choice. It’s a delicious journey through time that will leave you craving more.

Chapter 2 Old English Oxtail Stew

I explore the heartwarming flavours of Chapter 2, Old English Oxtail Stew ($25.80). This delightful dish is the epitome of comfort food, with its tender boneless oxtail soup that is perfectly complemented by adding potato croquettes, juicy cherry tomatoes, and vibrant green peas. As you dive into this stew, you’ll be transported to a world of nostalgic flavours.

Chapter 2 Gourmet Hainanese “Thick Bee Hoon” Laksa

Nestled atop the mound of noodles were three big beancurd rolls, which added a delightful crunch to each bite. As I indulged in the flavours of the laksa, I couldn’t help but notice how these rolls quickly soaked up the broth, softening in just the right way. And that’s not all.

The bowl was adorned with an egg and two succulent prawns that added freshness to the dish. But the highlight was the massive slab of Japanese-style char siew. Each bite was a harmonious blend of sweet and savoury, leaving us craving more. As we savoured each spoonful of this delectable creation, we couldn’t help but appreciate the surprising burst of flavours. The Chapter 2 Gourmet Hainanese “Thick Bee Hoon” Laksa is priced at $14.80.

Hainanese Curry Chicken Drumstick Rice Set

Mama Wee Curry Chicken Drumstick Set ($9.80) was served with steamed rice, prawn cracker, Sambal Tempeh, and Sambal Belacan. Now, let’s talk about the star of the show – the curry chicken. It is bursting with flavour and will hit the spot. The tenderly cooked meat falls off the bone, making it a joy to eat.

Golden Prawn Fritter Rice Set

The Golden Prawn Fritter Rice Set ($10.80) is a delightful and satisfying meal that will leave you craving more. Served with a generous portion of steamed rice, the star of this dish is the golden prawn fritter. These crispy prawn fritters are flavorful and perfectly complement the fluffy rice. You’ll also receive a side of prawn crackers to add extra crunch to your meal. These light and crispy crackers perfectly accompany the fritters, satisfying each bite’s texture.

💎 Weekend adventure at Jewel Changi! We had lunch at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh. Of course, ended it all with some waterfall fun, the classic Jewel style.
🥐 Dropped by Moonchild Café at Jalan Besar for brunch and coffee after a late night catching up on GE2025 🗳️. Definitely needed that caffeine fix!

The café has a cosy, laid-back vibe with good coffee, waffles, and bakes — plus it’s dog-friendly, which is always a win. 🐶

🚌 It’s about a 15-minute walk from Bendemeer MRT, but if you’re coming from Tampines, just take Bus 23 — it stops right outside the café.

📍 If you’re looking for a chill spot in the Jalan Besar area with good vibes and brunch, this one’s worth checking out.
