myFirst, the Singapore-based tech brand for kids, recently announced the latest iteration of its innovative line of Smartwatch Phones, the myFirst Fone R1s – and we are in love with it! Designed for young children in today’s world of smart devices, the R1s come with many features that parents will appreciate.

G-Jay Yong, Founder and CEO of myFirst said, “Today’s technology allows us to remain connected with the world at large at all times. However, such technologies often come with a caveat, and children today are exposed to various online risks. The R1s looks to minimise this risk, allowing parents to provide their young children with the ability to remain connected with their peers at an affordable cost – while enjoying the typical interactive features found on most smart devices within a safe and controlled environment.”

The myFirst Fone R1s uses cellular networks to allow users to chat, voice and video call in real-time just like a regular phone. The R1s is then paired with the myFirstFone App on your phone, so you can authorise and limit who talks to your kids, while getting real-time updates on them. Here are some of our favourite features of the R1s:

Limited Risk of Addiction to Social Media Platforms

If you feel like your kids never put down their gadgets anymore because they’re addicted to social media, this is a great way to wean them off of that addiction. Since the R1s relies solely on its platform for connectivity, this will limit the usage and the risk of addiction to social media platforms and online video content platforms.

Class Mode

The R1s now comes with a “class mode” that gives you the power to restrict your child’s use of the smart watchphone. In class mode, the device will “deactivate” for a certain period of time to stop your children from looking at their screens and fiddling with their watches. This ensures that they don’t get distracted when their focus and attention are needed the most. This isn’t just useful for actual classes, either. We’ve come to find that it’s a great way to keep kids focused when they do their homework and even during meal times.

GPS Tracking and Geofencing

Do you want to make sure your kids are always safe and sound? Suppose your kids go out a lot and sometimes forget to check their phones for messages or update you. In that case, the R1s has a more accurate GPS tracking system and geofencing, so you won’t have any trouble identifying and monitoring your children’s whereabouts anytime. This will also ensure your children’s safety at school and friends’ houses, as you will be alerted if they ever leave the premises.

One-Touch SOS Button

The most important feature for parents who always worry about their kids is that the one-touch SOS button can also be found on the R1s. With a simple press of a button, your kids will be able to alert you right away in case of an emergency.

If you tend to worry about the safety and security of smartphones, this is the perfect product for your kids! Alongside the features mentioned above, the R1s also offers an increased 8GB for music files storage, a simple-to-use watch and app interface that even kids won’t have trouble using, and a wide variety of trendy colour combinations for its watch face and straps.

The myFirst Fone R1s will retail at S$269 with six months of free data access SIM card and is available for purchase online at myfirst.tech and all authorised retailers or for S$28 per month with a one-year contract.

💎 Weekend adventure at Jewel Changi! We had lunch at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh. Of course, ended it all with some waterfall fun, the classic Jewel style.
🥐 Dropped by Moonchild Café at Jalan Besar for brunch and coffee after a late night catching up on GE2025 🗳️. Definitely needed that caffeine fix!

The café has a cosy, laid-back vibe with good coffee, waffles, and bakes — plus it’s dog-friendly, which is always a win. 🐶

🚌 It’s about a 15-minute walk from Bendemeer MRT, but if you’re coming from Tampines, just take Bus 23 — it stops right outside the café.

📍 If you’re looking for a chill spot in the Jalan Besar area with good vibes and brunch, this one’s worth checking out.
😌 TGIF! I’m taking a break from all the rally heat with some grilled goodness at Sinpopo.

🧈 The Damn Good Kaya & Salty Butter Sandwich really good, plus teh tarik, coffee and peanut mochi for that extra mood boost.

🗳️ Don’t forget to vote tomorrow ok?
