Why We Love IKEA This Spring

Affordable Scandinavia types of furniture, delicious Swedish meatballs, colourful plushy toys and maze-like shopping experience. IKEA is what I am talking about. Whenever I visited IKEA with my family, their 50 cents vanilla ice-cream cone or 50 cents refillable hot brew coffee will always be our end-of-shopping treat at IKEA. Since Chinese Lunar New Year is around the corner, we decided to visit IKEA Tampines during the weekends to find out what is new in their store.

Kayden loves IKEA because it feels like a city in a shopping mall.

At level 1 entrance of IKEA Tampines, we are given a game card which the front prints “IKEA Spring Festival” and the back prints our four tasks to complete. Instant lucky dip upon completing the tasks sounds fun to me. Since we will be touring around IKEA’s maze-like showroom, why not give it a try for some family bond time.

It’s spring time at @ikeasingapore ! Visit IKEA Tampines and IKEA Alexandra for fun-filled activities for the whole family. 🍊🍊#ikea #chinesenewyear #cny2018🐶 #temasekpolytechnic #familyphotography #singaporeinsta #instadaily

At level 2, we took our family photograph with IKEA’s Spring Festival backdrop. To complete our game card, we need to visit four different stations in IKEA Tampines showroom area. The name of our tasks are Memory Shelf, Pot of Goal, Chopsticks of Prosperity and Shake of Fortune. Our missions are fun and easy to play. We completed them in 20 minutes, and Kayden can’t wait for his lucky dip.

Walking down to IKEA’s Market Hall, there are free sampling of juicy mandarin oranges. Sold by IKEA, each carton ($7.80) has 24 Yong Chun Lokam mandarin oranges. Finding this price tag reasonable, we decided to purchase one box home to enjoy.

Our little helper helped us by putting items into the trolley and pushing it. Crowded with people in the Market Hall, we are worried that Kayden might knock onto someone. Well, we do have bad past experiences when he is in charge of pushing the trolley. To our surprise, his trolley driving skills have improved.

Like Christmas, CNY home decorations are ready on IKEA’s shelves this Year Of The Dog. Besides Chinese New Year goodies, IKEA is ushering this festive season with auspicious plants such as the curly bamboo plant, mini bonsai plant and pussy willows.

After we have paid for our purchases, we headed down to the Wrapping Station where Kayden can get his lucky hands into the box. Here is a photo of him with his “IKEA Spring Festival” prize: LÄTTFATTLIG Mini chest with 4 drawers.

💎 Weekend adventure at Jewel Changi! We had lunch at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh. Of course, ended it all with some waterfall fun, the classic Jewel style.
🥐 Dropped by Moonchild Café at Jalan Besar for brunch and coffee after a late night catching up on GE2025 🗳️. Definitely needed that caffeine fix!

The café has a cosy, laid-back vibe with good coffee, waffles, and bakes — plus it’s dog-friendly, which is always a win. 🐶

🚌 It’s about a 15-minute walk from Bendemeer MRT, but if you’re coming from Tampines, just take Bus 23 — it stops right outside the café.

📍 If you’re looking for a chill spot in the Jalan Besar area with good vibes and brunch, this one’s worth checking out.
😌 TGIF! I’m taking a break from all the rally heat with some grilled goodness at Sinpopo.

🧈 The Damn Good Kaya & Salty Butter Sandwich really good, plus teh tarik, coffee and peanut mochi for that extra mood boost.

🗳️ Don’t forget to vote tomorrow ok?
