It is officially the Year of the Dog. Here comes the best time of the year for my little boys to snack, drink, play and collect red packets called ang pow. This Chinese New Year is exceptional as my nine-month-old baby will be celebrating his first New Year with the family.
While some families may enjoy their reunion dinner a week before the Lunar New Year, our family’s reunion dinner is usually celebrated on the eve. Like every year, we will have steamboat. Filled with homemade chicken stock, we will boil the raw ingredients such as seafood, vegetables and poultry into this electric hotpot. While waiting for the food to be cooked, let’s toast a glass of wine for the better year, health and luck. Cheers!
First Day Of Chinese New Year
Rise and shine and we are welcoming the Year of the Dog. Early in the morning, I could hear the drumming sound from the nearby lion dance!
Last Chinese New Year, I had a terrible taxi booking experience. It is challenging to get a taxi to our house visiting. This year, I have decided to take public transport for our house visiting. This is a much cheaper and more efficient mode of transportation during this festive holidays.
The fashion theme for both my babies this Chinese New Year is rainbow! 🌈 With lots of colourful small rainbows printed on pastel green background, Kayden got a shirt while Baby N got a baby bodysuit. The both of them now really looked like brothers.
Spending the whole day at grandfather house, Kayden and Baby N had lots of fun playing together. All that goodies such as pineapple tarts (Kayden’s all-time favourites), almond coated chocolates and salted egg fish skin crackers made Kayden can’t stop eating them. I am loosening up on his snacking habit only during this festive season.
This is Baby N’s first time meeting his granduncle. With a battery operated toy puppy which moves and barks, Baby N cannot resist to touch it and push it down to the floor. What interest Baby N the most is the oranges. He threw them like a tennis ball and bit them like how he bites his Sally. This was his most enjoyable activity in grandfather’s house.
