When it comes to spending quality time with family, money is the last thing you need for laughter, joys, and all the happiness. Most of the time, simple gathering works best. Here, I am sharing my list of events which I am planning to bring my family along, without breaking my wallet (too much!).

A Merry Little Christmas Festival at Orchard

Here is an event which my family and I have decided to go on the 9th of December. The event will last from 6th to 10 December. The venue is at Visual Art Center Singapore. Live shows, shopping galas, and Santa Claus is there to meet you all.

Marina Bay Singapore Countdown

Get ready your camera! On the night of 30th December, my family and I are going to watch the most significant fire cracking show at the Marina Bay. Fireworks, lightings, clock striking and big gathering from the adjacent places will be there. The countdown will start right when the clock is about to hit 12:00 am. To say hello to 2019, this is one of the must-go events for all the family members.

Anime Festival Asia Singapore

Suntec Convention Centre Singapore is where Japanese pop culture events will be held. Traditional dance by Japanese girls can be seen. To check the beauty from Japan, you can be part of this event from 30th November to 2nd December. Lighting, music, entertainment and food stalls will also be part of this event.

SmartKids Asia Story Land

The event is dedicated specially for the kids who love fairytales. Amazing stories will be told to the kids and cartoons will be shown. Parents can join their kids. However, if seats are limited, parents will be asked to stay out, and spacing will be made for the children. When your kids enjoy stories, you can enjoy visiting stalls or eating food. Visit Singapore Expo Hall from 30th November to 2nd December.

Layar Andaya 2018 – Kayangan

Here is the cultural story from ancient Singapore’s folklore. The story is based on two brothers and their adventurous tale. There is no age restriction to be part of the family. You can join the event with all the family members as the event is totally free. Be at the Nanyang Polytechnic Auditorium, one day before first December. Take your kids who love stories and make their Christmas memorable.

Singapore Dog Festival

The event is being held for the dog lovers especially. There will be a variety of different dog species, and you can even take your pet with you. In the show, entry is free of cost, and there are lots of prizes for the beautiful dogs and their favourite well-behaved pets. No age restriction and the event will last for only three days, 14th to 16th December. However, if you want your dog to be part of the show, then first you will have to get him registered for the event.

NYP JAM! 2019 Auditions

If you or any of your family member is interested in singing, then make him part of the biggest NYP Jam event this December. Auditions are starting from 4th of December and will last till the 9th December. You can be part of the event with the whole family. Entry is free, and the venue is Nanyang Polytechnic. Although admission is free, you need to get yourself registered if you want to give auditions.

Experiential Vs Intellectual Knowledge

The biggest event for Buddhist is being held at The Buddhist Library. There you will find amazing inspirational lectures, medication ideas, yoga techniques, and several other lectures will be held regarding how can you spend your life in a better way. Lecturers from around the world will be part of the event, and you will be able to enter freely in the show.

Here are the events which you can visit along with your family. Along with the ideas mentioned above, it is also suggested that you do some festival activities at home by making delicious food and calling your best buddies to your place.

Remember, to enjoy and to have fun, you need friends and family. When you are surrounded by the people who love you, and you love them, every place becomes a recreational place. Even if you don’t have much money to spend, there is still a lot that you can do to celebrate happiness. Take advantage of most of the free events listed above and make your December a fun and happy experience this year.

💎 Weekend adventure at Jewel Changi! We had lunch at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh. Of course, ended it all with some waterfall fun, the classic Jewel style.
🥐 Dropped by Moonchild Café at Jalan Besar for brunch and coffee after a late night catching up on GE2025 🗳️. Definitely needed that caffeine fix!

The café has a cosy, laid-back vibe with good coffee, waffles, and bakes — plus it’s dog-friendly, which is always a win. 🐶

🚌 It’s about a 15-minute walk from Bendemeer MRT, but if you’re coming from Tampines, just take Bus 23 — it stops right outside the café.

📍 If you’re looking for a chill spot in the Jalan Besar area with good vibes and brunch, this one’s worth checking out.
