Mid-Autumn festival is celebrated in the 15th of the 8th month of Chinese lunar calendar. After Chinese New Year, the Mid-Autumn festival is the largest festival in China. Have you ever wondered why it is called the Mid-Autumn festival? The reason is that this tradition is celebrated in the middle of the autumn season. Some people also call it the moon festival because the festival is celebrated at the time of year when the moon is brightest and roundest.

Mooncake is a special pastry served during the Mid-Autumn festival. There is a tradition in which on the day of the festival, people will sacrifice their mooncake to the moon as an offering and consume it as a form of celebration. The cake is commonly round, and it is used to symbolise the reunion of the family. Today, mooncakes are often given as gifts to relatives and friends as a form of happiness, togetherness and completeness.

Mickey Mouse
