This recent triumph is the fourth major win for the Hyundai IONIQ 5 lineup at the World Car Awards within the last three years, firmly establishing itself as a leading contender in the global market.
There was a lot of anticipation at the 2024 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) when the World Car Awards announced this year’s winners. Hyundai Motor had several nominations, which highlighted its growing influence on the world stage and built upon its impressive track record at the World Car Awards. Notably, the brand’s IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 won consecutive victories in 2022 and 2023 across multiple categories, including World Car, World Electric Vehicle, and World Car Design.
The IONIQ 5 N is Hyundai N’s first-ever electric vehicle, launched in July 2023. It belongs to a category of high-performance EVs that are centred around drivers, and equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and advanced racetrack capabilities. This car is a crucial milestone in N’s efforts to embrace electric power, as it combines the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) from the standard IONIQ 5 with N’s innovation inspired by motorsports. With the help of expertise gained from electrified ‘Rolling Labs,’ the IONIQ 5 N unleashes its full high-performance potential.
The IONIQ 5 N has garnered extensive acclaim from the media, with many describing it as groundbreaking, a game-changer, and the benchmark for high-performance electric vehicles. The car has received several awards, including being named Top Gear’s 2023 Car of the Year. Additionally, the IONIQ 5 N has set a new record for the fastest electric SUV lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, as recognized by Germany’s Sport Auto.
